"Eat food, not food-like substances." - Mark Hyman
In todays society, we are confused about what food really is.
So let me simplify it for you.
Food is a product of nature.
It can grow on trees.
It can come from the soil.
It can move freely in the wild, as nature intended.
It, too, eats and is nourished as nature intended.
It doesn't have a long ingredients list.
It is vitamin, mineral and nutrient-dense.
You combine many foods together to create a meal.
What isn't food?
Most of what you get from a fast-food restaurant.
Items you get from the supermarket with long ingredient lists, most of which you have no idea what it is. Maltodextrin, anyone?
Most items which are packaged.
Are usually high in caloric value and low in nutrient-density.
So what are they then, if they're not food?
They're "food-products."
Created by man.
By the food industry.
The majority with one goal, which isn't proper nourishment of humanity.
Created with the intention of capital gain.
Sure, these "food-products" may be edible, depending on how you define the word.
You could also technically eat the plastic wrapper it came in, but that doesn't mean you should!
Most are also extremely tasty - they've been created to be!
But most are also killing us slowly from the inside.
Filled with harmful chemicals.
Lacking the vitamins and nutrients we need to sustain healthy bodily function.
Every day, you make thousands of choices.
What you put into your mouth is among some of the most important.
Are your eating choices made with health and longevity in mind?
Strive to live, live to strive.
