"Fate leads the willing and drags along the reluctant." - Seneca
Not everything in life will be favourable for you.
Life isn't always going to happen how you want it to.
You may have a plan, but so does life.
Some things in life are simply not within our control.
What is within our control?
The way we react and respond to life.
Whether we are experiencing good times or not-so-good times.
But especially in the bad times.
Will you accept it, pivot, and continue to move forward?
Or will you fight it tooth and nail, resist, and be dragged away, kicking and screaming?
This is analogous to a drop of water in the ocean, where the drop represents us, and the ocean is life.
The ocean decides whether to flow this way or that.
Whether to send waves crashing in one direction or another.
It is a futile endeavour to resist against the power of the ocean.
You will yield no reward.
It is better to accept, adapt, and move on.
Re-frame and ride the wave.
Continue moving toward your goal.
The path may not be the one you thought it would be, but if truly desire something, you will continue moving forward, no matter what path you walk down.
In my latest "Book Review #9", I review Seneca's ancient stoic writings in "Letters from a Stoic", as well as two other great titles. Please have a read for the full reviews!
Strive to live, live to strive.
