If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it.

"If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it." - Marcus Aurelius

On this day, April 26 in 121 AD, the great Marcus Aurelius was born.

He was not merely the Emperor of Rome.

He was also an exceptionally good human being.

He was the most powerful man in known civilisation during the time of his rule.

He had everything he needed in life.

He could have anything he wanted upon request.

His power and position did not stop him from being a man of great integrity.

Something that is sorely lacking today in people of similar stature.

In this simple instruction he wrote to himself lies a formula to life which is still relevant today, almost 2000 years on.

An approach which is applicable in any situation or circumstance in life.

Which should be applied without any condition or reservation.

An approach of integrity.

Of a good human being.

As we wish the great emperor a happy birthday, take his teachings and apply them to your own life.

Our world needs more good people like him.

Happy birthday, Marcus.

Strive to live, live to strive.
