"If you have a dream, chase it, no matter what it takes" - James Harden
James Harden - not the quickest, not the most athletic.
Seemingly someone who isn't genetically-gifted relative to his peers.
Despite not fitting the traditional mould of an elite NBA athlete, he has been a top-3 scorer in the NBA for the last 4 seasons (including the current season), and narrowly missed out on the MVP (most valuable player) award last season.
Yesterday he created history by becoming the first player in NBA history to record a triple-double (double-digit statistics in 3 different categories) whilst scoring 60 points.
How has he reached such pinnacles and maintained this level of supreme performance at such a high level?
This is his 'why'.
His reason for being.
Something he has infinite love and passion for.
Some will say it's easy to love to be a professional athlete for a living.
But I can guarantee that all people who are at the pinnacle of their respective crafts will have the same level of love and passion for it.
This is what gives them the drive to persevere, no matter what.
Tony Robbins' passion and mission in life is to empower the world to achieve their own level of greatness.
Steve Jobs' passion and mission was innovation in the computing and connectivity.
Ray Dalio's passion and mission was in macroeconomics, trading and investing.
All these high achievers has the same attributes in common, regardless of their field.
A crystal clear purpose to strive towards.
An unrelenting pursuit of their goals.
Perseverance, no matter what.
An ability to approach setbacks, adapt and continue forward.
Congratulations to James Harden for creating history. No doubt this is one of many more historic milestones to come.
Strive to live, live to strive.
