Slow.

Posted by Leslie Lau on

It is a curious mode of operation with which we've blindly adopted.

Blindly adopted and have deemed the status quo.

This culture of speed and progression.

The mindless rushing about from here, there, and everywhere.

The need to be infinitely occupied.

The insatiable hunger for stimulus.

The quizzical discomfort and angst we feel towards stillness.

The baffling embrace of being busy.

This paradox of busyness that defines modern society.

We perpetually strive towards growth, progression, development.

But we hardly ever, if ever at all, stop to think about 'why' we're doing something.

Whether what we're doing means anything to us at all.

Whether what we're doing may actually be causing us more harm than good.

Whether we're being authentic or simply following the script that has been written.

Are we acting from a place of purity?

Is what we're doing honouring our own truth?

Are we truly respecting ourselves and who we are?

Or are we ignorant to this.

Are we suppressing the truth.

Are we so 'busy' that we do not know.

How can we know for sure?

It may seem counter-intuitive, but we simply sit and listen.

Although it may seem like we are 'wasting time'.

Like we are not accomplishing anything.

We are doing the work.

The internal work.

The work no one seems to think is of any value, at least in comparison with 'being busy' and 'doing things'.

But is arguably the most important work of all.

The work that takes the most time, effort, discipline, dedication, trust, perseverance, practice.

The work that is never complete.

The work that reveals our own truth.

The work that connects us with source.

The work that promotes true growth and flourishing.

The work that delivers true gifts to the world, that truly nurture humanity.

The work that allows us to truly live our lives.

As counter-intuitive to what we're accustomed to as it may seem, sometimes we just need to slow down, sit, listen, ruminate, and acquire the wisdom we solely need.

Strive to live, live to strive.
