So why take on the burden of matters which you cannot answer for? You are only making unnecessary problems for yourself.

"So why take on the burden of matters which you cannot answer for? You are only making unnecessary problems for yourself." - Epictetus

When people at work act irrationally.

When someone makes a rude remark.

When someone cuts you off in traffic.

When you receive poor service at a restaurant.

When someone bumps into you on a crowded train.

When things don't go the way you thought they would.

All these things are not within your control.

You cannot control how others act.

You do not have control of circumstances external of you.

Why would you take on someone else's burden which you do not have control over?

These are someone else's problems, not your own.

Your own journey in life offers a myriad of its own challenges.

Focus on your own challenges.

On your goals.

On yourself.

Do concern yourself with anyone else's problems.

You only needlessly increase your own load.

See my latest blog post, "Take control of what is within your control", where I expand upon the concept of control as the ancient stoics taught it, and my own experience with this in my own life.

Strive to live, live to strive.
