The Gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal. Because any moment might be our last. Everything's more beautiful because we're doomed.

"The Gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal. Because any moment might be our last. Everything's more beautiful because we're doomed." - Achilles (Troy)

What makes life so beautiful?

What makes life so amazing?

What makes every moment a precious experience?

Is it the people?

Is it all our material possessions?

Is it all the riches and wealth we've accumulated?

Actually, it is the gift of mortality.

Knowing that we have a finite amount of time in this physical existence.

Knowing that one day, we will leave this physical plane.

How is this, you ask?

Well, for the most part, we tend to either forget or ignore these facts of life.

Doing so takes away the beauty of life.

We take things for granted.

We tend not to appreciate life and this amazing existence for what it is.

We tend to forget that life is a gift.

That the odds of us being alive as human beings can be akin to the probability of winning the lottery.

Fully acknowledging our mortality can help us appreciate the beauty of life.

Every single part of it, whether good, bad, or in between.

It teaches us to show gratitude.

To stop and smell the roses.

To treat every moment we have with respect.

To simply appreciate life.

In my latest blog post, "Memento Mori", I discuss the concept of death, how it is somewhat of a taboo topic, and how viewing it differently, embracing it, can truly change not only our approach to life, but how we experience it as well. Read my post to see the full discussion.

Strive to live, live to strive.
