"The price of freedom is simply choosing to be. Liberation is in the mind." - Buddha
Expectations.
The 'need' to be 'somebody.'
To 'make it' in this world.
To graduate from the most prestigious educational establishment.
To get a job which is seen to be reputable.
To hold a job title fit for the podium.
To make as much money as possible.
To be happily married and have children before your thirties.
To own the latest vehicle that exhibits the excellence European engineering.
To be draped from head-to-toe in high-end fashion.
That's a lot of expectation to put on oneself.
Especially if that is not what you truly desire.
This may be the societal mould for success, but that the time to ask yourself.
What is my definition of success and happiness?
Too often, we blindly shackle ourselves to the expectation of others, without even stopping to consider why.
Without asking ourselves if that is even what we want.
Once you release yourself from all expectations, life begins.
This is true liberation.
Truly living.
In my latest blog post, "What is your identity?", I detail this social construct in some depth to discuss what it means so we can better understand what it truly means to us as individuals. I also share a personal 'penny-dropping' moment where I experienced a major paradigm shift in my own life. Please read on for full post!
Strive to live, live to strive.
