To you, or for you?

"To you, or for you?"

Ask yourself this question.

Does life happen 'to you', or 'for you'?

When you're faced with a tough situation.

When uncomfortable circumstances.

When asked to face a scenario which is less than ideal.

A bad break up.

You're a single parent.

A significant financial loss.

Health issues.

Do you play the role of the victim?

Do you ask 'why me'?

That you don't deserve it?

That life is cruel and unfair?

This is the mindset of someone who believes life happens 'to them.'

That they are the unfortunate victim in this story.

They crumble under the pressure.

The discomfort.

They fall deeper and deeper into their sorrows.

Life happens 'to you' only if you let it.

To be clear, there is nothing wrong in feeling anything towards these situations.

To have an emotional reaction.

We are human after all, and this is our human response.

However, it is how you react that is important.

If you believe life happens 'for you', there is a clear difference in perspective.

You recognise that life does not discriminate.

That in life, there are inevitable highs, as well as inevitable lows.

That if you're alert to it, that life happens for you.

That there are hidden messages.

Lessons to be learnt.

Character to be built.

To be reinforced, strengthened.

If you're aware enough to notice.

Everything in life is happening for you, for a reason.

Take note, take notice, take action.

Strive to live, live to strive.
