"We now know that there is a brain in the bowel, however inappropriate that concept might seem to be." - Michael D. Gershon, M.D

Those who are conscious of their wellbeing and have done some research may have heard of the enteric nervous system.

Commonly known as the second brain, research has discovered this intricate network of nerves within the gastrointestinal tract.

Science is relatively new in this field of research, but what is known is that there is a clear communication between the gut and the brain.

What does all this mean?

I am no expert, however it further highlights the importance of our gut health.

What we eat not only influences our overall bodily health.

It also has a direct influence on how we think and feel.

Our overall health and wellbeing truly begins in the gut.

If you're interested in reading more about the fascinating research of the enteric nervous system, I review Michael D. Gershon's "The Second Brain" in my latest Book Review #7, as well as two other great titles. Please have a read if you'd like to learn more.

Strive to live, live to strive.
