"What we eat and drink has changed dramatically, and we are exposed to more chemicals and drugs than any people who ever lived." - Emeran Mayer, MD

The food industry is a juggernaut in the modern world.

We have at our fingertips a myriad of food products available.

Food products that cater to any craving.

That appeal to all preferences and tastes.

Industry has been able to leverage the things that appeal to our senses.

To cater to the busy lifestyles of the modern civilisation.

They are everywhere, and easier to get than ever before.

Food products that look good.

That smell delicious.

That tastes amazing.

That make us salivate.

Many food manufacturers use additives and chemicals to achieve this.

They introduce things which our bodies are not used to.

That our body cannot properly process.

Which can cause harm to our bodies over time.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good burger and donuts.

It isn't about depriving yourself.

It's about educating yourself.

Knowing what you are putting into your body.

Knowing what it may do to your body if over-indulged.

Making the conscious choice, knowing the consequences.

Making smart choices.

Like everything in life, it is about being pragmatic and in control.

About moderation and living a lifestyle with longevity in mind, but not neglecting some simple pleasures every now and then.

In my latest Book Review #4, I review "The Mind-Gut Connection", an insightful read on gut health and how this affects all other aspects of life, as well as two other great titles!

Strive to live, live to strive.
