"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves" - Viktor Frankl
Viktor Frankl writes in reference to his own and observation of others' experiences within the indescribably-harsh environments they were exposed to on a daily basis in the concentration camps during the Holocaust.
Environments and experiences we can hardly imagine today, let alone find relativity in.
His and other survivors' experiences during these torturous times show the limitless power of the human spirit.
When faced with adversity.
When exposed to an environment of negativity.
When challenged with seemingly-endless hardships.
When it feels like there is no way forward.
Know that it is only an obstacle if you see it as one.
Know that you always have a choice.
The theory behind Logotherapy, a form of phychotherapy developed and practiced by Frankl, ties the infinite strength of the human spirit to persevere through any condition with finding the true reason for one's existence.
Your 'why', your calling, your reason for being, your purpose.
When this is clear in your mind, all obstacles simply become a means to achieving your ultimate end.
Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, where on this day in 1945, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp was liberated. This post is in tribute the great Viktor Frankl and to commemorate the tragedy of the holocaust.
Strive to live, live to strive.
