"Your biggest challenge will be building a great team." - John Doerr
Every person who has reached the pinnacle of their field had a great team behind them.
A great team of individuals who have a common goal.
A great team who understand and support the vision of the venture.
A great team who have aligned values.
A great team who will do what is required to reach the peak.
I emphasise 'great' intentionally to highlight the importance.
There is absolute truth in the saying "It's hard to find good help."
Not just any team will do.
Not just any collection of individuals.
You may have great friends, great family members, great colleagues.
But are they great in providing you support to attain your goal?
Are they brutally honest?
Do they tell you what you need to hear or want to hear?
Are they unbiased and objective?
Do they afford you time, space, and clarity?
The time, space, and clarity required to make the best decisions.
To execute the best plays.
Find yourself the great few.
A great team of individuals who will lift each other up.
In my latest blog post, "Who's in your offensive line?", I talk more about the importance of surrounding yourself with a great team and the great analogy of team sports and life. Please have a read for more detail.
Strive to live, live to strive.
